General Information

There is no cost to attend youth ministry. For extra events there will be a small fee. We try to assist as much as possible via parish subsidy & scholarships.  In lieu of a participation fee we ask parents to assist at various times by providing snacks.

Gatherings are typically on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. For a current schedule of youth ministry events, click here

We welcome all teens who are in grades 6-12. Teens are encouraged to bring friends — parishioners, non-parishioners, Catholics, non-Catholics.

We do not have an attendance policy. We understand that many teens have extracurricular activities and we do not want to deter them from attending Youth Ministry. Teens are welcome as their schedules permit.

If Youth Ministry is cancelled, you will be notified via email or text.. If Youth Ministry is cancelled due to inclement weather, you will be notified via email, text message, and/or an announcements at Sunday Mass.

We strive to create a safe and healthy environment built on respect for God, others, and Church property. Saint Benedict Youth Ministry is smoke, drug, and weapon free. Gatherings are an opportunity for us to gather as a community, therefore we ask that teens refrain from using cell phones and other electronic devices at YM. Out of respect for others, teens are asked to refrain from foul and demeaning language. Teens are asked to respect the opinions of others and to listen when others are speaking. Out of respect for the parish, we expect that teens will not damage Church property and that they will clean up their areas.  All rules are for the safety and well-being of the teens and are expected to followed.

The youth ministry of Saint Benedict parish, guided by the vision for youth ministry of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, focuses on the holistic development of young people by which they are empowered to live as disciples of Jesus and are drawn into active participation into the mission of the parish, diocesan, and universal church communities.  Through youth ministry, young people are called to hear God’s Word, nurture a relationship with God through prayer,  and to serve the disenfranchised of the parish, local, and global communities, to help bring about the Kingdom of God.

All are Welcome ~ We are all children of God our Creator. Therefore, the youth ministry at St. Benedict does not exclude anyone

The Young are Vulnerable ~ We recognize that young people are vulnerable and easily influenced. Saint Benedict Youth Ministry will protect all young people and follow proper reporting procedures if harm is done.

All children and youth workers and/or volunteers at Saint Benedict Church are required to undergo a criminal and child abuse history background check and strictly adhere to all state and Diocesan Child Protection Policies.

Say not You are too Young ~ Everyone, regardless of age, has a vocation to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Each person offers a unique gift of self to help bring about the Kingdom of God.

Nourished by the Eucharist ~ The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith and we recognize the need to be nourished by the Bread of Life. Therefore, the youth ministry participates in the communal celebration of the Eucharist.

Service to Others ~ As a parish committed to the service of others, the Youth Ministry strives to serve those in our parish and local community.

More than Catechesis ~The youth ministry recognizes that catechesis is not the only aspect of faith development. Therefore the youth ministry is built upon the eight components of Renewing the Vision.

“Journey of a Lifetime” ~We recognize the words of Bishop Bosco in affirming that  one’s faith is not a one time change.  Rather, we affirm that faith is a lifelong journey and respect each person’s point on their individual journey to God.
